What to Prepare Before Connecting Accounts
Before you connect your ad accounts, take a few minutes to gather the right access credentials and permissions for each platform. This prevents the most common trial blocker—failed connections—and keeps your setup moving.
Who this is for
Anyone setting up a new workspace, whether you’re an agency onboarding a client or a brand connecting your own accounts. This applies to all plans.
Why this matters
Most connection failures happen because of missing permissions or wrong account types, not because anything is broken. If you prepare the items below before you start connecting, the process takes minutes instead of back-and-forth troubleshooting.
Meta (Facebook & Instagram)
- Admin access to a Facebook Business Manager. You must be an Admin (not an Employee or Analyst) on the Business Manager that owns the ad account. To check: go to Facebook Business Settings → People, and confirm your role says Admin.
- An active Facebook ad account. The ad account must be in good standing (not disabled or restricted). If it’s flagged, resolve the issue in Meta Business Suite first.
- A connected Facebook Page. You need at least one Facebook Page linked to the Business Manager. Ads run from a Page, not from a personal profile.
- Two-factor authentication enabled. Meta requires 2FA on Business Manager accounts. If you haven’t set it up, you’ll be prompted during connection and the process will stall.
Google Ads
- Admin or Standard access to the Google Ads account. Read-only access is not enough. Check your access level in Google Ads under Admin → Access and security.
- A Google account signed in to the browser. The connection flow uses OAuth, so make sure you’re logged into the Google account that has access to the ad account, not a different personal or work account.
- For agencies using Manager Accounts (MCC): You can connect at the MCC level or at the individual account level. Know which approach you want before starting. See: Google Ads Manager Accounts (MCC).
TikTok
- Access to TikTok Business Center. You need a TikTok Business Center account (not just a personal TikTok account). If you don’t have one, create it at ads.tiktok.com before connecting.
- Admin role on the TikTok ad account. Confirm your role in TikTok Business Center under Members. You need Admin permissions to authorize the connection.
- An approved ad account. New TikTok ad accounts go through an approval process that can take up to 24 hours. Don’t try to connect until the account status shows Approved.
- Account Manager or Campaign Manager role. You need Account Manager access (or higher) on the LinkedIn Campaign Manager ad account. Viewer access won’t work.
- A LinkedIn Page linked to the ad account. LinkedIn ads are associated with a Company Page. Make sure the Page is linked in Campaign Manager before connecting.
Snapchat
- A Snapchat Business account. You need a Snapchat Business account with an active ad account at ads.snapchat.com.
- Admin access to the ad account. Confirm your role in Snapchat Ads Manager under Business Settings → Members.

Common issues
- Your page or account doesn’t appear after connecting: This usually means you’re not enabling enough access when connecting, or your permissions are lower than Admin. See: Why your page or account doesn’t appear.
- Connection fails or reloads: Double-check for Adblockers or clear the cache.
- You’re not sure which ad account to connect: If you manage multiple ad accounts, write down the account name and ID for the one you want to connect before starting. Each workspace supports one ad account per platform.
